Thirouin, Lowell Observatory; S. S. Sheppard, Carnegie Institution for Science; K. S. Noll, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA; and W. M. Grundy, Lowell Observatory, report that the transneptunian object 2004 SC_60 is a nearly-equal-sized binary system. The discovery images were obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope from during 2024 Jan. 4.51807-4.55619 UT. The two components are resolved with a separation of about 0".16 at p.a. 36.5 deg. The brighter of the two components is located at R.A. = 1h57m47s.0, Decl. = +12d37'57".3 (equinox J2000.0), while the secondary is located at position end figures 47s.0, 57".5 on 2024 Jan. 4.5437. The magnitude difference between the two components is 0.4 +/- 0.2. NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
