Electronic Telegram No. 5711 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Mailing address: Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network V2104 AQUILAE = NOVA AQUILAE 2026 A possible nova (red mag 12.5) that was discovered by Min-rui Ning (who is apparently from Urumqi, Xinjiang, China), together with Hui-xuan Lin (Institute of Astronomy, National Central University, Taoyuan City, Taiwan) in the course of the "Zwicky Transient Facility" (ZTF) survey from three 200-s CCD exposures taken on July 1.395 UT using the 1.2-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar was found as part of the "Daily Cataclysmic Variable Alert Project"; Ning provided a position R.A. = 19h14m31s.37, +12d03'53".6 (equinox J2000.0) for the variable. Comparison was made with the Digitized Sky Survey, but no mention was made of limiting magnitude or date of the DSS image referred to (see website URL https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2026rdg/discovery-cert). An independent discovery at mag 11.8 was apparently made by K. Sokolovsky (University of Illinois) et al. from an unfiltered CCD image obtained on July 1.836 using an SBIG camera (+ Canon 135-mm-f.l. f/2 telephoto lens) located at the Astroverty astrofarm in Nizhnii Arkhyz, Karachay-Cherkessia, Russia, in the course of their "New Milky Way Survey"; the provided position end figures for the variable are 31s.29, 53".4. Spectroscopy (range 385-905 nm) obtained by U. Munari (Padova) et al. on July 2.865 UT with the Varese (Italy) 0.84-m telescope shows broad Balmer emission lines (FWHM about 1100 km/s) flanked by P-Cyg absorption lines that are blueshifted by 680 km/s, together with O I 777.2-nm and Fe II lines; there is strong indication of interstellar reddening. The spectrum resembles that of a "Fe II"-class nova near maximum brightness; details are reported at website URL https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17867. Munari et al. add that nothing appears within 2".7 of the nova to red mag 20.4 (Pan-STARRS1 imaging; no date provided) or red mag 17.4 in the Gaia DR3 catalogue. Magnitude estimates of this nova reported to the Central Bureau: July 2.028 UT, 11.1 (W. Souza, Sao Paulo, Brazil; SeeStar S50 camera; "tri-color green" images); July 3.07, 12.0 (J. G. de S. Aguiar, Campinas, Brazil; visual and in moonlight). E. Kazarovets (Institute of Astronomy, Moscow) writes that the permanent GCVS designation V2104 Aql has been assigned to this nova.
