COMET P/2025 OZ_695 = P/2005 S2 (SKIFF)                     
     An apparently asteroidal object discovered on CCD images obtained on
July 19 with the 8.4-m f/1.2 Simonyi Survey Telescope of the Vera Rubin
Observatory has been identified (apparently at the Minor Planet Center) as
a recovery of comet P/2005 S2 (cf. IAUCs 8606, 8618).  The astrometry below
is taken from MPEC 2026-N37.

     The linked orbital elements below by S. Nakano (Central Bureau) are from 
94 observations spanning 2004 Sept. 7-2025 July 29 (mean residual 0".6).  No 
correction is needed to the prediction in the ICQ's Comet Handbook 2007 (or 
for a similar orbit on NK 1283).  The comet will pass 2.71 AU from Saturn on 
2029 Sept. 25 UT.

The photometric power-law parameters from the previous apparition (H = 7.0,
2.5n = 10) produce a current brightness that is some three magnitudes brighter
than the magnitudes of the recovery observations (above).
