Circular No. 2825 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Cable Address: SATELLITES, NEWYORK Western Union: RAPID SATELLITE CAMBMASS SUPERNOVA IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY L. Searle, Hale Observatories, telegraphs that J. P. Huchra has discovered a supernova 20" west and 6" south of the nucleus of an anonymous galaxy located at R.A. = 3h08m.8, Decl. = +41o58' (equinox 1950.0). On Aug. 11 the photovisual magnitude was 15.5. omicron ANDROMEDAE D. J. Stickland, Royal Greenwich Observatory, writes that a spectrogram of omicron And at a dispersion of 8.5 A/mm was obtained by R. W. Argyle and himself with the Cassegrain spectrograph on the 250-cm Isaac Newton telescope on Aug. 21.02 UT. From H-gamma to H_9 there was no trace of any emission in any line in that reqion. AZ CASSIOPEIAE P. Tempesti, Collurania Observatory, writes: "Photoelectric observations made at the Collurania Observatory show that the VV Cep star AZ Cas (period 9.3 years) entered eclipse on Auq. 11, ten days in advance of the prediction in the Cracow ephemeris; the total phase will last until mid-November. This star has never been spectroscopically observed at minimum; observations during the next three months are therefore very desirable. The V maqnitude at minimum will be 9.6, the B magnitude about 11.5. CI CYGNI J. Bortle, Brooks Observatory, communicates the following visual magnitude estimates, the first of them made by P. Brlas in Hungary: July 28 UT, 9.1; Aug. 19.1, 10.7; 23.1, 11.2. PERIODIC COMET BOETHIN (1975a) The following precise position has been measured by R. L. Waterfield from a plate taken by R. H. S. South at Woolston Observatory. The coma was circular and 20" in diameter. No convincing image appeared on an exposure through thin cloud on Apr. 2.9 UT. 1975 UT R. A.
