Wischnjewsky discovered a supernova of mpg = 15.0 in the Sb galaxy IC 4839 (R.A. = 19h11m5, Decl. = -54deg43', equinox 1950.0) on a plate taken by L. E. Gonzalez at Cerro El Roble on Oct. 22. On Sept. 25 the object was of mpg ~ 19. The offset from the galaxy's nucleus is 22" east, 82" south. NOVA SAGITTARII 1984 B. H. Foing, European Southern Observatory, telexes that image-tube observations with the 1.5-m telescope and Boller and Chivens spectrograph over 360-700 nm on Oct. 16.03 UT showed wide Balmer emission lines and emissions of Fe II, N III and O III. Visual magnitude estimates by R. McNaught, Coonabarabran, NSW: Oct. 10.45 UT, 13.1; 11.44, 13.2; 13.44, 13.5; 15.40, 13.5. PERIODIC COMET SHOEMAKER (1984q) Total visual magnitude estimates: Oct. 6.47 UT, 12.0 (C. S. Morris, near Mt. Wilson, CA, 0.25-m reflector; difficult because of the moon nearby); 14.8, 11.8 (R. McNaught, Coonabarabran, NSW, 0.32-m reflector); 15.8, 11.8 (McNaught); 16.01, 11.0 (J. Bortle, Stormville, NY, 0.32-m reflector); 17.03, 11.1 (Bortle). PERIODIC COMET TAKAMIZAWA (1984j) Total visual magnitude estimates: Sept. 18.08 UT, 11.6 (J. Bortle, Stormville, NY, 0.32-m reflector); 19.25, 11.9 (C. S. Morris, Tujunga, CA, 0.25-m reflector). OCCULTATION OF SAO 146599 BY (47) AGLAJA P. Maley, Houston, TX, reports that observations by C. Herold at Long. -94deg43'01"0, Lat. +32deg00'22" 6, near Mt. Enterprise, TX, indicated a full occultation of duration 1.8 s, beginning at Sept. 16d02h25m30s2 UT. Dimming began 1.0s earlier, and there was a blink 0.7 s after reappearance. Observations by Maley some 8 km away (Long. -94deg43'49"3, Lat. +31deg56'13"0) showed no occultation. 1984 October 26 (4002) Brian G. Marsden
