Circular No. 4143 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-495-7244/7440/7444 SUPERNOVAE R. Kirshner, Center for Astrophysics, writes: "Photometric observations of the supernova 1985Q in Mk 516 by R. Schild and I. R. G. Wilson at the Whipple Observatory on Nov. 15 and subsequent dates show that no object is present at the site reported on IAUC 4124 to v = 19. The supernova must have faded at an unusually rapid rate. Any limits from other observers would be welcome." R. Buta, Mount Stromlo Observatory, telexes: "From a spectrum (range 400-690 nm) taken by G. Meurer on Nov. 8, we confirm that the supernova 1985P in NGC 1433 is of type II. The spectrum shows broad P-Cyg profiles of H-alpha and H-beta, and also a feature close to the expected position of Na I D." DO DRACONIS R. H. McNaught, Siding Spring Observatory, reports that the current outburst of this object (IAUC 4130) is the first to be studied while in progress. He found DO Dra (= PG 1140+719 = 3A 1148+719 = ZA 1150+719) ~ 1 magnitude above minimum on Atlas Stellarum: on 1969 May 11.90 and 12.97 UT, mpg = 14.0 and 14.1, respectively. He notes that Wenzel (1983, M.V.S. 9, 141) found three outbursts on Sonneberg plates: 1962 Apr. 9.9, mpg = 10.0; 1968 Nov. 10.8, 10.8; 1975 Nov. 23.8, 10.5. McNaught provides the following precise position (+/- 0"4), from a Palomar Sky Survey glass copy at the Royal Greenwich Observatory: R.A. = 11h40m48s88, Decl. = +71deg57'58"5 (equinox 1950.0). Further visual magnitude estimates: Oct. 29.79 UT, 11.0 (G. M. Hurst, Basingstoke, England); 29.90, 11.5 (M. Taylor, Wakefield, England). R CORONAE BOREALIS Visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 4116), in part provided by J. A. Mattei, AAVSO: Sept. 21.1 UT, 7.3 (C. Womack, Lewisville, TX); 25.8, 7.7 (K. Medway, Southampton, England); 28.0, 8.3 (D. Weier, Madison, WI); 30.78, 8.7 (M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy, France); Oct. 3.1, 9.1 (D. Megginson, St. Charles, MO); 4.2, 9.4 (Womack); 8.0, 10.4 (L. Hiett, Berkeley Springs, WV); 10.77, 10.1 (Verdenet); 14.23, 10.9 (K. Krisciunas, Hilo, HI); 17.76, 10.2 (Verdenet); 20.76, 9.5 (Verdenet); Nov. 11.0, 7.4 (Verdenet). 1985 November 26 (4143) Daniel W. E. Green
