Circular No. 4368 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-495-7244/7440/7444 SUPERNOVA 1987C IN MARKARIAN 90 The position of the galaxy reported by Cherepashchuk on IAUC 4358 apparently should read R.A. = 8h26.1, Decl. = +52 52', (equinox 1950.0); there is also a misprint in R.A. in Markarian's original catalogue (1969, Astrophysics 5, 206) for Markarian 90. SUPERNOVA 1987A IN THE LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD B. Gregory and J. Elias, Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory, report: "Infrared photometry of SN 1987A by B. Wilking and R. Schwartz, University of Missouri, using the CTIO 1.5-m telescope on Apr. 12.86 UT yields preliminary values of K = 1.32, L = 1.02, M = 0.90, N = 0.26 (uncertainties +/- 0.05 mag). The SN has increased in 10-;m brightness by > 1 mag in < 1 month (cf. IAUC 4353)." Further visual magnitude estimates: Apr. 11.40 UT, 3.4 (D. A. J. Seargent, The Entrance, N.S.W.); 12.38, 3.5 (R. H. McNaught, Siding Spring Observatory); 13.46, 3.4 (A. Beresford, Adelaide, S. Australia); 14.45, 3.3 (Seargent); 14.72, 3.4 (J. Campos, Durban, R.S.A.); 15.45, 3.4 (Beresford). A0535+26 F. Giovannelli, Istituto di Astrofisica Spaziale, CNR, Frascati, and Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, La Laguna, Tenerife; and V. G. Kurt and E. K. Sheffer, Space Research Institute, U.S.S.R. Academy of Sciences, report: "The Soviet station ASTRON has observed the x-ray pulsar A0535+26 in the energy range 2-25 keV during Feb. 20.58-20.66 UT, near the expected periastron passage. During the observation, the flux increased from 9 to 25 mCrab. This strongly supports the detection of the beginning of an x-ray outburst separated from the previous one by about 111 days (Giovannelli et al., IAUC 4284)." NOVA VULPECULAE 1984 No. 2 Further visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 4281): 1986 Nov. 26.85 UT, 11.3 (A. Perez, Paris, France); 28.75, 10.9 (S. Korth, Monheim, West Germany); Dec. 8.75, 11.3 (P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, West Germany); 1987 Jan. 4.38, 11.4 (S. Sakuma, Kawasaki, Japan); 30.23, 11.1 (W. Hasubick, Buchloe, W. Germany); Apr. 1.15, 11.6 (M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy, France). 1987 April 16 (4368) Daniel W. E. Green
