Djorgovski, California Institute of Technology, reports: "A spectrum has been obtained at the Las Campanas 2.54-m Du Pont telescope of the previously proposed optical counterpart of an extragalactic H I cloud discovered in the Virgo cluster by Giovanelli and Haynes (1989, Ap.J. 346, L5). The optical object shows Balmer and [O III] emission lines typical of a starburst dwarf, at a redshift of 1350 +/- 100 km/s, thus confirming the identification. The presence of the oxygen lines indicates that some chemical evolution has already taken place, although the object could still be very young."
